This app displays Sonoma County ocean, Russian River, and Spring Lake Lagoon water quality data collected by the
County of Sonoma Department of Health Services.

Sonoma County has approximately 64 miles of coastal beaches. In order to protect the health of the public, weekly samples are collected and tested between April 1 and October 31 by the County of Sonoma Department of Health Services to monitor bacterial levels.
Ocean water samples are collected at beaches that are visited by 50,000 people per year and are adjacent to storm drains, creeks or rivers. Seven beaches in Sonoma County meet this criteria.

The Sonoma County Department of Health Services, in cooperation with the North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board and the Sonoma County Water Agency, monitors bacterial levels in the water at beaches on the Russian River, and also monitors Spring Lake Lagoon in cooperation with the Sonoma County Regional Parks Department. Sampling is conducted once a week each summer between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
